The Crescent is a beautiful part of Scarborough, sitting above valley road which accesses south bay from the A64. The gallery is next door to Londesborough Lodge, now a Buddist centre, where Edward when Prince of Wales caught typhoid whilst staying there not long after his father Albert died of the disease. A bit of history that helps understand Scarborough as a fashionable Spa seaside resort reflected in some of the architecture around this area

Housed in an architecturally beautiful building Scarborough Art gallery has a great art collection with genuine connections to the town. Ideal for a rainy or wintery day. Admission also gives you access to the Rotunda museum.

The Gallery tells the story of Scarborough through art: its history, the influence of the sea, and portraits & fashion. The 2012 Fears, Foes & Faeries exhibition explores English folklore & charms. Scarborough Art gallery has a great collection of works by local artists including works by Atkinson Grimshaw, famous for his landscapes including those of Scarborough. A peaceful spot for art lovers or rainy day families. Opening times Tues - Sun 10am - 5pm Closed Mondays Open Bank Holiday Mondays Tel: 01723 374753 Tip - £3 entrance fee gives you a year pass to the gallery and also the Rotunda museum. Under 18's go free.
