Free beach but a little bit of a walk to get to the beach.

If you want a simple experience at the lake, Garden City Park is it. You don’t need to rent any equipment. Simply park your vehicle, walk along the boardwalk, find a spot along the bank, and wade in the water. There are restrooms, a drinking fountain, and an outdoor shower spigot. This beach is not necessarily sandy. Kids can still dig into it, but it’s more packed and a bit rocky. Bear Lake has better beaches if you want the sand experience.

This is Garden City’s best kept secret. You access this through a hidden boardwalk behind the Garden City Park. The boardwalk is beautiful with many birds and flowers to see. It is an enjoyable uncrowded beach similar to North Beach. It is just a far walk to carry equipment. Enjoyable for an evening stroll.

Amazing spot to go to the park and have easy access to the lake.

Garden City Park leads to Garden City Beach and is the closest public beach (with restroom & parking) to the beach house. On the far end of the park, there is a boardwalk that leads down to the beach. There is parking there so you don’t have as far to walk to the beach. Along the boardwalk are a few interpretive signs about wetlands. After following the boardwalk, you will come out into the open and see the beach. There are bathrooms, as well as a rental shack for paddle boards and kayaks. It is still quite a walk down to the beach. If you have a lot of supplies you might want a wagon or stroller which will easily move across the sand. The other great thing about the lake is that the beach is very shallowly sloped. This means that the water doesn’t get deep fast. This makes it awesome for kids. It also means that the water is much warmer than it would be if it were deeper. This is true for almost all the beaches at Beat Lake and for the beach directly in front of the Beach House. In short, the beach at Bear Lake is incredible!
