The current hipster-ish scene that delivers funky shops and some of the best bars and restaurants in the city.
Bay View is the best neighborhood in town, for me. It is a mixed bag of artisans, working folks, artists, professionals of different stripes, alternative health practitioners, etc. And, it is on the lake! Lake Michigan, that is. Always beautiful.
Beautiful lake front parks, awesome cafes, pubs, boutiques, shops, and great people.
“The longtime hub of Milwaukee’s gay community, this neighborhood is now also a hotbed of foodie activity with an industrial edge. You’ll find some of the city’s best LGBTQ bars and nightclubs alongside award-winning restaurants and locally-made artisan food products. Many of the neighborhood’s bars and restaurants are focused along Second Street, but Fifth Street is quickly becoming another hotspot for the area.”
“Excellent and reasonably priced Indian food, in a really nice setting. In warmer weather they have a great outdoor seating venue as well. They also do a huge carryout and delivery, so if that's what you want, they've got it.”
“Café Corazón was opened by George and Wendy Mireles in 2009 in Riverwest. Pulling inspiration from their time living in the San Francisco Bay Area, they sought to bring fresh Latin cuisine to Milwaukee. Using beef and produce from Wendy's family's farm, supporting local farmers, and growing produce at their own urban garden, Café Corazón has been committed to serving the freshest local fare for both meat eaters and vegan/vegetarians. They later expanded to Bay View in early 2016 and Mequon in 2019. They take pride in knowing each location shares the same commitment to sourcing local food while offering a unique dining experience. ”
