Ches's is a bit of an institution but the reputation is well deserved. They have been serving fish and chips for over 60-years and the original family still run the business. Everything is freshly cooked, in a light batter with good sized portions. The staff are friendly and very helpful. You can eat in or take away but for the experience I would definitely advise you to eat in. Enjoy!

This family run business has been serving fish and chips for generations. No list is complete without it, I'd always go downtown and get my annual fish and chips at one of the pubs but many people say Ches's is the place to go.

Some of the most famous Fish and Chips in St. John's. Although not my personal favourite (check out the Duke of Duckworth, or Chafe's Landing if you have a vehicle!) they are commonly recommended and very central.

Ches's has a few locations, the closest one to the Airbnb is Highland Drive if you are Skipping the Dishes and they have a full service restaurant as well.....about a five minute drive from the Airbnb. In the same area you can walk to a Sobey's store, Dollarama, Marie's Mini Mart, Scotia Bank, Hair Salons, Esso Gas Station. This strip mall like shopping area is called The Torbay Road Plaza....not to be confused with The Torbay Road Mall. Ches's is the go to place for a big feed of fish and chips with dressing and gravy....don't forget to muck it all up.
