LGBTQ friendly, WONDERFUL, friendly bartenders (I love Larry, Jack and Alex!) Also this bar is Olive (dog) friendly so we might stop in for a brew from time to time after the dog park. Kinda divey and great night life (music) Highly recommend to experience real Detroit!
A stalwart, divey gay bar at the end of Cass Corridor. Great dance parties that are usually packed to the gills.
“Whos is the Champion of Detroit Coney Dogs. Lafayette Coney vs American you decide . Try them both because you can not get a hot dog this good anywhere else!”
“hipster, young, queer friendly but not exclusively queer; Haute To Death has fashionable parties; check schedule for queer focused events/nights”
“Can you swim in the Detroit River? Yes! Don't worry, Belle Isle is way upriver of all the industrial junk spewing stuff downriver, and you get one of my favorite views of the city and the Ambassador Bridge from this beach.”
“If you happen to be visiting on a full moon, you may have the chance to experience a Full Moon Party at the Art Park. During the warmed seasons, they have huge parties with hundreds of people in a truly Detroit fashion that last until daybreak. There is usually a bonfire, music, and art sculptures, including a giant metal globe overlooking the park that shoots fire. You can visit the park during the day and look at the graffiti and sculptures made out of random junk but if you happen to be in town for the monthly full moon, you must try to attend one of the Full Moon Parties. It is really a unique Detroit experience.”
“Upon entering you grab a tray and piece of wax paper and then proceed to pick out pastries from wall-to-wall cabinets encompassing the bakery. These are traditional (and some non-traditional) Mexican desserts that range from $0.50 to $2 each.”
