Stunning rooms both grand and small with amazing atmosphere. John Lennon once said that the one draw back to being famous was "not being able to have a quiet drink at the Phil".

Arguably Liverpool's most famous pub, 'The Phil' was built for Robert Cains brewery around 1900. You enter through a pair of striking art nouveau gates to discover impressive wood panelled-rooms decorated with stained glass windows and dramatic plasterwork. Don't forget to check out the gents toilets, which feature marble urinals. If your female, we recommend asking a male friend to ensure they're unoccupied before peeking inside ! Sir Paul McCartney did a secret gig there in the summer of 2018.

A visit to the Philharmonic dining rooms is worth it just to experience the architecture, it's the only place I know with grade II listed toilets (gents only I'm afraid).
