Quiet forested trail leading to Lake Michigan, excellent for cross country skiing in the winter.

The 1.5-mile hike through woods and dune all but guarantees you a stretch of private sand. Usually good wave action here, too. In late June/early July the biting flies can be bad, so bring some repellant. Also gorgeous in fall! Park Pass required.

Our closest local trail. It consists of two loops, each about 2.5 miles long. The loops lead to a beach at Lake Michigan and back. A pleasant, easy hike.

This trail is only a 5 minute drive from the cottage, but gives you the sense that you're 100 miles from anywhere when you walk the rolling trails through the hardwood and cedar forest. You can take a loop or head straight to the remote and sandy beaches of Lake Michigan.
