Maltby Street Market
Maltby Street Market is a blast, always busy and mostly full of food and drink stalls to have there it's one of our favourite spots to take visitors. A great local alternative to Borough Market that's less busy on the weekend
We’re 10 minutes walk away from Maltby Street market, a trendier and less touristy version of Borough market. Pop down on a Sunday to sample the brownies and hot lunch sandwiches
Converted labour businesses into street food outlets. I recommend the oysters!
A fantastic food market on a Saturday with a whole host of independent food traders serving up cuisines from all over the world.
“Large contemporary art space owned by Jay Jopling, credited with discovering Damian Hirst (of formaldehyde shark fame!). The gallery represents many well-known artists including Gilbert & George.”
“Our favourite market is in the Arches on a Saturday morning. Walk up St James’ Road until and turn left just before the railway bridge onto Lucey Way, through the car park for the flats, along the arches here are wholesalers for all sorts of tasty treats. Check out Little Bread Pedlar (Arch Spa Business Park, Dockley Road, SE16 3FJ) for amazing baked good but get in there early! It opens at 9am and the wholesalers shut up at 2pm. ”
“Great for coffee and pastries, has a cosy feel in the winter with the wood fire”
“The local bakery. Great sourdough and Berliners (or doughnuts depending on where you come from)”
“££ - Our favourite food spot in the area - authentic Spanish tapas food, amazing wine. No booking required, however it is always crowded due to it’s popularity and small space, so do come early”
