Szimpla Kert" - The legendary Szimpla Kert is the most complex and best-known ruin pub in Budapest. The sprawling club located at 14 Kazinczy Street offers a variety of programs every day of the week: concerts, parties, activities for the elderly, exhibitions, a farmers' market, and numerous cultural events are all held in the same spot. The place is mostly occupied by foreigners, but there is no lack of Hungarian guests either, thanks to the concerts. This is a popular, homey place for friendly get-togethers. It sports peculiar interior-design solutions, a mix of styles, and the eclectic vibe of urban life. A must-see

Cool party center: Gozsdu Udvar (meaning "Gozsdu Courtyard" in Hungarian) was named after a Romanian lawyer, Manó Gozsdu, famous for his real-estate investments. The complex consists of seven buildings and a passage formed by six interconnected courtyards, which once played a very important part in the life of Budapest's Jewish community. You can find a whole bunch of cafés, bars, restaurants, shops, and clubs here, like Spíler, DiVino, Kolor, Blue Bird Café, or Szomszéd, and also enjoy art exhibitions, fairs, concerts, and other events all year long, so it's always worth a visit. On Saturdays, from 2 to 8 in the afternoon, they hold a craft and vintage market, which is worth visiting.

A beloved spot of party animals, being a gigantic ruin-pub complex occupying an entire building. The themed dance floors guarantee that you will find the songs you’d like to shake it to, while multiple counters and an awesome crowd ensure that you won’t leave sober or before sunrise (Instant is proudly open until 6am every day). The psychedelic interior features highlights such as a boar-shaped disco ball, glowing butterflies, and humping foxes. But you’re so close to the end now, resist temptation to end the night here – don’t give up the drunken dream, continue on to the last stop!

Situated on Zrínyi Street, the club Ötkert stands just a few minutes away from the Basilica and the Danube Promenade. There is usually no entrance fee, the prices are reasonable, and the menu and programs are varied. It hosts exhibitions, concerts, acoustic evenings, conferences and DJ sets - so everyone can find the event best suited to their preference. The guests are awaited under a temporary roof in the winter and under the sky in summer - and they often fill the dance floor and the restaurant to the brim.

Parks & Nature

Városliget" - One of the first public parks of the world, Városliget (also referred to as City Park) was the central venue of the millennial celebrations of 1896. Contrary to legends, it is not the largest park in Budapest (the title goes to Népliget), but it is certainly the most lovable one – because it is family-, sports-, and pet friendly. The renaissance theater-like building of Széchenyi Bath is the perfect destination if we want to spend the day in thermal water, while the Zoo and the Circus both have great programs for children. During the summers, we can take a boat and row on the Városliget Lake, and then have a hamburger at Pántlika.

This expansive island in the middle of the Danube is a forested retreat in downtown Budapest, and a favored recreation ground for locals and travelers alike. Several sites serve as tranquil destinations across this vast parkland, like the stunning Japanese Garden, a cavernous Oriental space with its harmonious flora and burbling fountains; this silent hideaway is especially impressive during the blooming months of spring, when the fine blend of scented flowers stimulates the senses. The Margaret Island’s small petting zoo is a classic stopover for families with children, who want to slow down amid the island’s fauna that includes deer, peacocks, and several other species.

Gracefully shaping Pest’s skyline, Europe’s second biggest Parliament building is one of Budapest’s postcard superstars with its neo-Gothic architecture, peaking high in the sky. It houses the Hungarian Holy Crown, and regular in-house guided tours are available every day in many different languages... although joining these excursions often requires waiting in long lines before entering. To unwind after the tour, opt for a peaceful pause in the Parliament’s vicinity by just strolling around the recently renovated Kossuth Square surrounding the monumental building, and enjoy the scenery of its green lawns and statue complex of Lajos Kossuth – the Magyars’ leader during Hungarian revolution.

Towering above central Budapest, this hallowed shrine is one of the city’s most photographed sites for its twin steeples, celestial stained-glass windows, and stately central dome. Those who want to get a bird’s-eye view of the city from this central perspective can ascend to the Basilica’s circular balcony encompassing the dome, accessible via a spiral staircase or an elevator. Gellért Hill, a gemstone of Budapest, rises above the skyline of Buda with its 235 metres. Nestled between the Elizabeth Bridge and the Liberty Bridge. This marking sight of the cityscape of Budapest has been part of the World Heritage since 1987. Its most famous cave, Saint Ivan's Cave hides the Szent Gellért rock chapel. Gellért Hill is one of the top tourist attractions of the city thanks to the magnificent panorama from the top of its cliffs facing the Danube. You can climb the hill from two sides: take the stairs by the waterfall (only operating in the summer)at Elizabeth Bridge, or take the gradual, but somewhat longer pathway by the Gellért Bath.

Gerbeaud, one of Vörösmarty tér’s (Vörösmarty Square) emblematic venues, is arguably the most famous confectionery and coffee house in Budapest, which also belongs to the cream of the crop in Europe, and has been operating a unit in Tokyo since 2009. The inmeasurable experience of a 164-year-long history determines Gerbeaud’s enviable selection, which is basically an exhibition of confectionery art. The interior is dominated by three materials – marble, gold, and wood -, and recalls the atmosphere of early 20th century Budapest, when once-in-a-generation poets and writers were café-hopping all day long.

Amazing place. The restaurant is very cozy (so keep in mind the seating will so be rather cramped), the ambience is nice and the staff is friendly too. But the best thing here is the food: it is delicious, they serve all kinds of typical Hungarian classics and it is very, very cheap. They also have a good amount of vegetarian options. This place is amazing for amazing lunch or for a simple dinner. Maybe less so if you want to dine very extensively.

Meat in sandwich and burger is outstanding. I think it is the best burger restaurant in which I've ever been. And if you are lucky you can try burger with wagyu beef. Prices are reasonable.

There are a lot of trendy bars en restaurants in this street, probably a lot of them very good, hung(a)ry stands out because it doesn't want to be trendy, it just wants to serve good food. The breast of duck is succulent, the staff is very friendly, really making you feel at ease, not hesitating, just step in end enjoy !

Embark on a time-transcending journey to Budapest’s communist era, get a feel of the country’s times under Soviet control, and try to comprehend what life was like while experiencing every day amid occupying forces. One of the most shocking testaments to this time is the House of Terror Museum, located on prominent Andrássy Avenue – formerly the secret-police headquarters of the State Security Office. Those who enter will face unsettling scenes, while learning about the atrocities that occurred in Hungary during the 20th-century communist regime. The interactive showcase commemorates the victims of repression who were detained, interrogated, tortured, and killed in the building.

However, the spa’s most-photographed part must be the steamy outdoor pool area featuring chessboards surrounded by intently focused soakers. But who said that only locals can join the fun? If you visit Budapest don't forget I to visit this place! There are the very old thermal baths and the modern facility. The latter is unisex but the thermal baths are for men or women separately. Make sure you check before you go. The thermal bath section is a trip back in time with a unique experience of relaxation. Highlight also the hot pool on the rooftop! Very clean and well maintained facilities with a reasonable cost! Plan to spend as much time as possible!!'
