Big Blue was started as a POP up store in a flea market, around 1986. Philip and James needed to get out of a corporate environment and quick, Big Blue was their escape. Printing their own fabrics on SA made cottons using local craft techniques.

A varied selection of linens, towels, soaps, candles, fabrics & clothing from the very well known Mungo to the handstitched gudris of Northern India, there is truly something for everyone. Mungo has earned a reputation for quality and beauty.
They produce many of their fabrics on antique handlooms near Plettenburg Bay, giving these varied patterned and coloured throws and bedcovers a timeless quality. Bamboo and cotton towels as well as brightly coloured kikois and wraps, are some of the products to choose from.

Jane Valken handloom and silk cotton ranges are the embodiment of slow fashion. Hand spun and hand stitched cottons and silk blends come together in woven harmony.
One handloom garment takes up to 27 days to complete with motives woven into the fabric and the utmost care given to each and every piece.
Handloom journey has been a five-year process designing their own jamdani designs. Perfection in small imperfections.
Cotton yarn we use is hand spun, 150-count khadi, a beautifully soft and breathable fabrics.

Penguin Sanctuary and Private Beach.
There are two entrances to this.
* The best tip is if you want to spend some time on a beach and see penguins without a fence between you, take the second road, don’t follow the Penguin signs, take Bellview road to Boulders Beach it is very sheltered on windy days and very pretty.
The ticket you buy that gets you onto this beach also allows you to the info centre and viewing deck of Foxy beach, you just follow the boardwalk.
The beach gets more sun in the morning.
Try not go on a weekend.
* Go early to the Foxy beach viewing as it gets very busy with tour busses.
