Great local cafe that makes fabulous coffee and good food. It is open year round and is always very busy. Located a 3 minute walk from the lodge.

Great champagne bar upstairs and cafe downstairs. Good for some apres ski drinks, particularly happy hour cocktails. This place is family friendly with a relaxed atmosphere.

Delicious ramen house run by locals. Great spot. There's another Gyoza and Ramen house right at the end of our street but AirBnB cant find it on their map. I definitely recommend trying both. Delicious!

Traditional and delicious Japanese cuisine. A very good place to eat that is warm and cosy in winter. Groups also can get a private dining booth/area. One of my favorites in Hakuba for real Japanese cuisine and a more fine dining experience. It does get very busy though so bookings are recommended.

Really great Japanese food served here, but be warned they are always full! Make sure you go in at least a day before and book for the following day.

Another great Japanese fusion, with mexican this time! I love trying the Japanese take on foreign foods and making them just as tasty and delicious but a little bit different. Try the taco rice (this is actually an Okinawan dish created for the western tastes of the US military in the area) A great post ski carb load up :)

Drinks & Nightlife

One of the coolest bars in town, that feels like a piece of Jamaica in the snow. Good drinks and atmosphere. Busy late at night. A little more chilled before 10pm.

Probably our favourite night spot in Hakuba and often frequented by locals all year round. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bar menu is delicious. The tofu and fried chicken are do die for. Quieter in the early evening and gets busier as the night progresses. Definitely worth trying for a drink or two.

Don't be fooled by the name! This place does a crazy Japanese version of Kebabs. My fave is the Kebab on rice. There is also a bar that serves those multi litre beers per table and some bar games like ping pong and darts.

The town pub. Definitely worth checking out if you feel like some pub style food. The ribs are delicious here. It's about a 10minute walk to the edge of Echoland from us.

Everything Else

Great resort and it links into Goryu all on the same pass. Also links to Imori which is fabulous for beginners and generally not as busy. There is the biggest park here just as you come off the main gondola. As the season progresses the jumps get crazier and crazier. Would love to see your video of anyone nailing those jumps!! Corona bar is also a must visit if you go on a blue bird day!

POWDER HEAVEN. Must. Go. If powder day. BUT get there early, line up for the first run of the day. Tree skiing available within resort area. There's also the hotel onsen which is definitely recommended to try out after a big powder day, and it over looks the slopes. Coffee at the hotel is also delicious and the coffee art is beautiful. The soft serve is also so so good.

One of my fave ski resorts. Really really good long tree skiing area. Make sure you get your special pass/course before you can enter this area. Also good beginner slopes at the bottom.

The largest and most well known resort. Its BIG! and lots of fun. Particularly good if we havent had powder as you can take the long groomed runs. Lots of terrain which will keep you busy for a while. But ultimately not one of my preferred mountains. (actually probably my least skied of them all!). Great for everyone of all abilities.
