Akamon Gate of the several gates to the Hongo Campus of the Tokyo of University, the distinctive Akamon (Red Gate) is the most famous. It was built in 1827 for the daughter of Shogun Ienari Tokugawa, named Yasuhime, for her marriage into the Maeda household.

The huge, ultra-modern National Art Center, Tokyo, opened at the beginning of 2007. The National Art Center Tokyo is a short walk from Roppongi Hills. Designed by Kisho Kurokawa, the gleaming glass structure is Japan's largest exhibition space (see picture below). Dedicated to special exhibitions, it has no permanent collection of its own.

The huge, ultra-modern National Art Center, Tokyo, opened at the beginning of 2007. The National Art Center Tokyo is a short walk from Roppongi Hills. Designed by Kisho Kurokawa, the gleaming glass structure is Japan's largest exhibition space (see picture below). Dedicated to special exhibitions, it has no permanent collection of its own.
