Nice, kids friendly restaurant. In weekends they have two nanny's playing with the kids. There's a playground in the back and a nice terrace in summer. Food is organic and good.

Great sushi and self bbq! Casual atmosphere in the centre of Alkmaar. Normally we do not like 'all you can eat' but this is a good one.

Highest dunes in The Netherlands, beautiful forest and great for walking.
At restaurant Nieuw Westert in Egmond Binnen you can park your car and walk from here through forest and dunes to the beach. Very nice area, also for mountainbiking and running.

The beach at Egmond aan Zee is the closed beach from Heiloo. It is 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes by bike. It is a long and wide beach with a couple of (not very good) beachrestaurants. We always bring your own food.

Same beach as Egmond aan Zee but a little further from Heiloo (20 minutes by car and 40 minutes by bike). There are some nice beachclubs like Hemmingways and De Jongens. The food here is most of the time quite good.
Parking can be very difficult on sunny summer days, also in Egmond. So consider, going by bike or go very early.

Alkmaar is a beautiful old city, looks like a small Amsterdam with canals and houses from the 17th century. With the famous cheesemarket, nice shops and good restaurants.
