This is a forgotten little Photo Museum of Alice Austin - it was also her home...Alice Austen (1866 - 1952) was one of America's earliest and most prolific female photographers, and over the course of her life she captured about 8,000 images. A rebel who broke away from the ties of her Victorian environment, Alice Austen created her own independent life. Everyone always misses this place. It is located right next to the Staten Island Ferry, but it is down a little cobble side street and the area is being renovated.... the museum is open and is so awesome ! we were given a private tour by the Retired Fire Chief... The Views of the Forgotten Water Front are great for Photographers it's spooky and quiet here with big views.
