Why wouldn't you hike up a dormant volcano when you have the opportunity? It's a 20 minute walk from our house and then just start climbing. Make it to the top and, weather permitting, you get a fabulous view on either side.

Miles of trails about a 20 minute drive from our house. Open fields, wildlife like rabbits and deer ( no worries about bears- you're still in the city) and splendid views of all the surrounding mountains. Paved trails and a gentle, gradual hike.
