Noia is a walking friendly small city/ large town a short 25 minutes drive from the house. You can easily find street parking and wander through the charming streets to find bars and restaurants that are open until after 2am. Check the calendar or ask Rosa for local fiestas and goings on. During the day Noia has a wonderful old market open until 2pm except on Monday where you can find the days catch, local butcher and cheese stalls, and farm fresh produce. There are some interesting sights as well if you dig a little.

A wonderful day trip well worth the drive! Take a ferry from Cangas near Vigo (about 1hr 45 mins drive) to the beautiful Islas Cies national park. The island is criss crossed with gorgeous hiking trails that are very underused even in the height of the season.

The best surfing beach in the area - world class waves for surfers and strong swimmers, and narrow protected coves for youngsters. Beautiful rock formations protect, deep swimmable tide pools at high tide and there are also shallow tide pools for children to play in. Good swimmers only in the ocean! There are strong currents! Excellent cast fishing off of the rocks. Dolphins are often seen swimming in the breakers and beyond the rocks. Also a monument to the late Ramon Sanpedro (right to die activist). There is a very simple cafe restaurant at the parking lot.

An observatory on the top of the highest mountain of the Sierra de Barbanza. On a clear day you can see north to Fisterre, (Finistiera) and south to Pontevedra and get a first hand look at the lay of the land and all of the rias. You will certainly drive past wild horses on your way up. At the top is a small cafe restaurant. Not overly touristy.
