Directly by London Bridge is the iconic Borough Market selling fresh food . Many films have also been filmed here - see if you can spot which ones! Get there early to sample cheese and hams from all over the country and local produce - there is always something to taste. A great buzz always surrounds the market and it is an ideal place to pick up a snack before walking along the Southbank for more sightseeing.

There are a few of these in London now. GO TO ONE. I'm not a mad sushi fan, I don't like fish!! But they have something for everyone and also cater very well to vegans. Almost everything by its nature is gluten free. Definitely one of the best chain restaurants to have opened in London in along time, I haven't tried any of the others but I guess they are a good.

Possibly London's first vegan pub. dishes made from Seitan, all beers brewed to vegan standards. It is tiny so get there when it opens at 4pm.

Drinks & Nightlife

What to say - voted the best new bar in London by Time Out and on the doorstep of the property - think kitch cocktails from grandma's tea pot. Fabulous vibe, friendly staff and they only serve locally sourced food.

There is so much to do at the O2. There is of course the 20,000 seater music and sports arena and the more intimate Indigo. But there are also plenty of restaurants, cinemas and bowling. There is also the Emirates Cable Car and walks along the river. This is great place to go if it is raining and you want to stay local even if you re not going to a music event.

So this is only open to the public on Friday nights so you need to book in advance! It is a little tricky to find but worth the search. It is an old Turkish Bath and they have done everything to restore the former glory of its hey day, no mean feat given it was bombed 3 times and a third of it destroyed to make way for the railway. The attention to details is fabulous, it is a seated only bar with great service and very imaginative cocktails. If you want to go somewhere totally unique that most people have never heard of this is the place.

So this is a pub a lot of people don't know about. Of course it is Irish, and is slap bang between Leicester Square and China Town. It has a completely different decor to any pub you will ever have been in, but I won't spoil it for you - think cathedral combined with magic garden and you can't go wrong. Great music, can get rowdy on match days and weekday evenings. Really should be unmissable, especially if you fancy a Guiness. Did I say there was a confessional by the loos?!

This is a pub and restaurant steeped in history. It is where the Pilgrim Fathers set off for the New World and every timber creaks with days gone by. Sunday night they light the whole pub by candle to give real atmosphere. Food is good but you need to book at table, if lucky you will get a table in the upstairs restaurant with fantastic views of the Thames.

Sightseeing

London's newest public park and it is 35 floors in the air! And it is free!! Pre-book on line in the day or take a chance as a 'walk -in' from 6pm. Stunning views of London all in a garden high in the sky. An absolute must, it literally takes your breath away when you first step out and see the view. I've lived here 15 years and think it is the best addition and a must see. You can also get a coffee or a snack or book one of their two restaurants, oh and they have live djs at the weekend and yoga in the morning!!

Parks & Nature

Just a short walk from the property is Greenwich Park - the largest of London's Royal Parks. Inside is the Observatory and the Meridian Line - where you can stand in the western and eastern hemisphere at the same time. The Royal Maritime Museum (free) and The Queens House (free) are also in the park - both designed by Sir Christopher Wren. There are a herd of deer, a rose garden, a cricket pitch and many beautiful flowers as well as open spaces. The view from the top of the hill provides panoramic views of London.

Arts & Culture

Brick Lane is synonymous with curries and street art - there are free guided walks of the area taking in the varied street art including some Banksy. There is a bustling vintage market with pop-up breweries and street food. There is the Whitechapel Gallery and the famous Jack the Ripper Tour. The famous Cereal Cafe can also be found here along with the many pop-up local designer shops of Shoreditch and the amazing Boundary Restaurant Roof Terrace (book in advance and dress to impress). Think Cafe del Mar has come to hipster London.

There is so much more to this place than meets the eye. The new entrance to the shaft has now been finished so no more clambering over brickwork and scaffolding to see one of the great modern wonders of the world. Try to combine this with one of the Midnight Apothcracy Nights and you will have a magical night in London at an iconic venue which almost no one else will have done.

Everything Else

No visit to Greenwich is complete without a vist to the market, half is is locally sources food turned into international delicacies, the other half handmade products of every description with some highly skilled items on sale which make brilliant presents. The main market is Saturday and Sunday although bric-a-brac and antiques are available throughout the week. Don't miss Goddards of Greenwich serving local pie, eel and mash for over a century.

Essentials

You can get everything you need from Deptford High Street, there are convenience stores of Asda, Tesco and Iceland, hundreds of market stalls and plenty of independent fish mongers, butchers and greengrocers - almost unheard of on most UK High Streets now. There are independent coffee shops - Cafe Velo (which doubles as the local bike enthusiast and fixing shop), and two cafes that sell exclusively vegan and vegetarian food. There is even a completely vegan pub - The Full Nelson.
