Food Scene

We regularly visit our local coffee shop because we can walk there or take the kayaks. It's lovely sitting on the balcony watching the activity on the water or little stretch of sand.

Sightseeing

Visit the Magnificent Sugar Loaf Point Lighthouse at Seal Rocks and enjoy the natural rock formation, when the seas are high there is a spectacular blow hole just below the lighthouse. At the right time of year you can watch whales making their way up or down the coast. Read the stories about shipwrecks in this part of the coast.

Bungwahl is a small historic village close to lakes and beaches and the turnoff to Seal Rocks. From the hill above Bungwahl there are lovely view over Myall Lakes. You can also head up the Neranie Head Walking Track off the Seal Rocks Road. The walk starts in a clearing that was once a part of the historic Neranie timber mill village, the track leads past an old cemetery where you’ll find gravestones dating back to the nineteenth century.

Parks & Nature

Set out from Elizabeth Beach and walk up through open rainforest onto sea cliffs with special views out to the ocean. Wander through a mossy rain forest with rocky outcrops and unusual trees not common to the coast, loop back along the Wallis Lake to Elizabeth Beach.

Absolutely beautiful beach with a lovely walk from the carpark through the littoral forest. Well worth the walk along the beach and across the sand dune to meet Smiths Lake.

Lovely drive through the forest. An easy 25km loop which National Parks suggest starts at Gur-um-bee Picnic area. It can take a full day to enjoy the park and have time to do some hikes and enjoy a picnic. There are some elegant stands of tall flooded gum and palms as well as breathtaking views from Whoota Whoota Lookout. https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/driving-routes/wallingat-forest-drive

Rainy Day

The National Motorcycle Museum could be a great way to occupy motorcycle enthusiasts for at least a few hours. It contains Australia's largest collection of vintage, veteran, and classic motorcycles. Among the favourite machines on display are a Kenilworth scooter (1919), a twin cylinder water-cooled 2 stroke Scott, and a Vincent Black Knight. There is an excellent range of vintage bikes from the early nineteen hundreds, and of course many, many very interesting later machines. Allow an hour or two (or ten, if you're a serious enthusiast) to have a good look around and read some of the fascinating history presented. Books, toys, models, badges, patches and memorabilia are available for sale at the museum. Ring to confirm opening hours 33 CLARKSON STREET NABIAC NSW 2312 Phone 0474 788 132

The history of the Great Lakes begins with the Worimi and Biripi people. Captain Cook noted the presence of "native" on Cape Hawke and the first recorded Europeans in the area were five escaped convicts from the second fleet. The museum is run by volunteers and contains a wealth of information about the region's origins, resources, local trades, industries, it’s people and culture. 1 Capel Street.
