Parks & Nature

An enjoyable walk without being too remote. You can get a really good view of Edinburgh from the top and walk among the trees at the bottom. There are little paths to walk round all over the hill and it is one of my favourite places to be.

It is fairly central and beautiful views across the city, next to the Palace... If you have a car or are willing to take a bus we also have some beautiful beaches: Yellowcraigs for example which is in East Lothian, about 20 miles up the coast.

Arts & Culture

Equally, if you like art, there is the Gallery of Modern Art in Belford road and the National Gallery on the Mound in Princes Street (city centre) or try the Museum in Chamber Street which children should also enjoy... Most of these venues are free! There are a few small museums in the Royal Mile and various other parts of the city which give a flavour of the history too: too many to list really.

Entertainment & Activities

Where to start? You can do pretty much everything you can think of in and around Edinburgh, from golf to skiing, swimming to horse riding. There are numerous gyms you can use for a small fee. There are lots of cinemas, bowling, a big zoo (we have a panda), the Royal Yacht Britannia, boat trips, petting farms, The Edinburgh Dungeons (not for the faint hearted). So much to do, just ask for further details and suggestions.
