Everything Else

The only palace of Berlin which was not destroyed during WWII. The exhibition not only shows the story of the palace (home to Elisabeth Christine, wife of Frederick the Great), but also in the GDR.

My favorite park in Pankow. Unlike the part around the palace which was closed to the public in GDR-times, this park was always open. The little river Panke flows through. Just perfect for a picnic.

A classical park, once private it was soon opened to the public as the first park in Berlin only for it's citizens. That's where the name comes from: Bürger means citizen.

This park bears history with being one of the battlefield during the deliberation of Berlin. A Russian memorial as well as a cemetery is there for fallen soldiers and forced laborers.

I guess, it's one of the places, one has to be during the stay in Berlin. Here's the overcrowded flea market and the famous Karaoke every Sunday.

The best memorial/ Museum about the Berlin wall. It's state owned and no Disney Land like Checkpoint Charly. If you want to know and see something of the wall and the stories, go here!

At Koppenplatz is my personal favorite memorial for the murdering of the Jews during the Third Reich. It's simple, it's small but so much more than the huge memorial build next to Brandenburg Gate.
