Sightseeing

Blackness Castle is a 15th century fortress, near the village of Blackness, on the south shore of the Firth of Forth. It can be reached by car in 5 minutes from the cottage or 30 minute walk.

The 17th century House of the Binns is the historic home of the Dalyells. It is a National Trust Property and can be visited by appointment. The extensive grounds are open all year and are next door to our cottage, great for a leisurely morning or evening stroll to the folly on the hill providing panoramic views of the Firth of Forth, the Peatland Hills and the west lothian landscape.

The 17th century House of the Binns is the historic home of the Dalyells. It is a National Trust Property and can be visited by appointment. The extensive grounds are open all year and are next door to our cottage, great for a leisurely morning or evening stroll to the folly on the hill providing panoramic views of the Firth of Forth, the Peatland Hills and the west lothian landscape.
The Kelpies stand 30 metres tall, and are the worlds largest equine sculptures. Towering over the Forth & Clyde Canal, they form a dramatic gateway to the canal entrance. They can be found at the Helix; 350 hectares of recreational green space and visitor attraction. Only 15 minutes by car.
