This is a German-style beer garden that has a wonderful outdoor space- perfect for a lovely evening sitting outside. Nice selection of beers and they serve snacks like soft pretzels as well. A very fun spot!

Take a walk around the Capitol Building and stop by the Botanic Garden on your way back around. Free admission and lots to see. I particularly love the orchid room!

You will find a number of free museums along the National Mall as well as views of the Capitol and Washington Monument. You can't go wrong with any of the museums, but the American History and National Gallery of Art are favorites of ours.

Stroll around the tidal basin to take in views of some of the major DC monuments including the Jefferson and FDR. This is where you will find the beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring.

Take a walk from the World War II memorial across the reflecting pool to the steps of the Lincoln. From there you will get a wonderful view of the Washington Monument and Capitol building!

The Capitol building is about a mile from the house and is definitely worth a trip! From here, it is not far to the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall.

Parks & Nature
This is a hidden gem (and free of charge)! Once you enter the Arboretum, you won't feel like you're in the city any more! You will need a car or a cab to get here, but it's worth it.
Check out the azalea collection and the cherry blossoms in the spring and the crepe myrtles in the summer. The Asian collection is a favorite of mine. Don't miss the Bonsai display near the visitor's center!

Getting Around
Union Station is the terminus for Marc rail, Amtrak, Mega and Bolt Bus, etc. You can also catch the red line Metro rail here. About a 12 minute walk from the apartment, or a very quick cab ride.

The streetcar is a new addition to the H Street Corridor. Currently it is free of charge to use! It starts behind Union Station and travels down the entire H Street Corridor. The closest stop to the apartment is on H St at 5th Street.
