Parks & Nature
Plenty of trails for hiking and mountain biking here and easily accessed from the house via a 1/4 mile walk east down South Shore Dr. where there is a pedestrian/cycling entrance.
Museum with history of the Donner Party and old Highway 40 (Donner Pass Road) and across the US. 1.5 mile walk (3 mi. round trip) 7 mile drive. Hike/bike is a beautiful flat trail along the lake and through the park. Recently updated museum and gift shop, lots of books on the area. Have maps of the many more hikes nearby.

If arriving or departing during daylight take the extra few minutes to arrive or depart via old Highway 40 you get a view of Donner Lake, an historical arched bridge, granite cliffs and mountain climbers. Many car commercials are filmed here for the beauty of it all. There are many hiking spots along the way. The most scenic part of this short mountain drive begins or ends right at our street, South Shore Drive!
