Beautiful location on the beach at Blackpool sands.
This would be the place to go to for a special meal. The food is wonderful and it is now rated the number one restaurant in Brixham for good reason. Midweek they do special two course meal offers.

Mainly a seafood restaurant offers freshly cooked local crab sandwiches, line grown Brixham mussels, dayboat scallops and much more from the daily fish auction. It is a lovely place to be in the evening and watch the sun set across the bay.

This is the nearest pub to the chalet, a ten minute walk down the hill. There is a beer garden and they serve food too.

The Weary Ploughman is slightly further from the chalet but still within walking distance. It was recently taken over by new owners and is getting good reviews for the food.

This is a ten minute walk away from the chalet. A well stocked local shop/post office, which sells a really good range of essentials and local produce (including local wine and cheese and eggs) as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. They are happy to deliver and helpful and friendly.

Galleon Stores and Galmpton Post Office

A well stocked local shop/post office, which sells a really good range of essentials and local produce (including local wine and cheese and eggs) as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. They are happy to deliver and helpful and friendly.
This is an excellent butcher, next to the village store. They are friendly and helpful and the meat (including their own sausages and beef burgers) is very good and locally sourced.

Sightseeing
Some of the local towns and places to visit within 20-30 minutes of the chalet.
The steam trains run from Paignton to Kingswear and pass close to the chalets several times a day. It is a lovely sight to stand on the bridge and watch them go by and a very good way to see the surrounding countryside.

Brixham Harbour has one of the largest fishing fleets in the UK and there is a busy fish market on the quayside. You can watch the comings and goings of fishing fleet from a viewing platform. Brixham itself is a picturesque town with terraces of colourful houses cascading down on either side of the harbour. There are lots of cafes and places to eat and a variety of shops. There is a small beach at Fishcombe Cove, near the Battery Gardens, with a cafe, which is usually a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy the views. The Breakwater, with the lighthouse at the end, is exactly 1/4 mile long and there are lovely views from there.

You will hear the steam train pass by the chalet several times of day (and may just see the steam). The Railway runs from Paignton to Kingswear, with stops at Churston and Greenway Halt in-between. The house and gardens are within walking distance of the chalet, or you can drive to Greenway if you pre-book a parking space. This arts and crafts style house is owned by the National Trust and set in a beautiful position on the coast. The gardens are extensive and run down to the sea and the South West Coastal Path.
