Mount Baker Beach is a public swimming beach that is located at the bottom of Mount Baker Park which includes tennis courts and a playground for children. There is a lifeguard on duty during the Seattle public school summer vacation.

The water tower in Volunteer Park has amazing, 360-degree views of Seattle and includes some pictures of how Seattle used to look. It's also just a few feet from the Black Hole Sun sculpture (immortalized by the Sound Garden song of the same name) and the Asian Art Museum.

Trails are everywhere in this park and yet you are never more than .5 miles from civilization. You can park on Lake WA Blvd in Leschi and just cross the street to get to the park.

This park is the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant. There is a hill in the park that offers beautiful views of Lake Union, Downtown Seattle, many of the bridges that cross the ship canal and Queen Anne Hill.
