Sightseeing

A must do while in the city is to stand at the bottom of the Washington Monument and peer up to the very top, but an even better way to experience it is to go inside! Get a bird's eye view of the nation's capital by riding the elevator up!

Situated on the tidal basin - and if you catch it at the right time of year, it'll be surrounded by cherry blossoms. Ashley recommends packing a lunch and eating it right on the steps to the monument. The ultimate place to people watch and take in the surrounding beauty.

Our favorite place to kayak in the Potomac. Float right past the monuments or explore nature trails off the river! We've also had a great experience on a nighttime river boat cruise.

The most charming area you'll step foot in. Federal-style architecture, cobblestone streets & fashion and design shops. The dining scene is defined by upmarket restaurants and waterfront seafood spots, while nightlife spans boisterous college bars, traditional taverns and intimate live music lounges. Georgetown Waterfront Park has a riverside promenade and gardens, and there's a bike path along the C&O Canal.

Visit Arlington for Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. This military cemetery is proud and somber with white marbled stones covering rolling hills. There are sights like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Memorial Amphitheatre, and the John. F. Kennedy Gravesite with the eternal flame.

One of the best ways to experience DC is on foot

The city’s wide sidewalks meander past the inspiring monuments and museums found on the National Mall, as well as the intimate museums, world-class theaters and splendid gardens in the city’s collection of neighborhoods.

Or if you prefer two wheels...

Its fleet includes more than 3,000 bicycles, and the system is easy: simply join (options range from a Day Key to a year-long membership) and access bicycles 24 hours a day.
