All Day Adventures

If you’re up for a long day of hiking, this is the trail for you. You will encounter Heather Lake, Emerald Lake, and Pear Lake if you do the full roughly 12 mile out and back trail. If you are there in the summer, bring your suit so you can take a dip in the lakes! Taking the Watchtower direction is recommended over the Hump trail because it is less steep and has better views.

Here is a full day adventure option! The road to this section of the park is curvy and somewhat rough on your vehicle, so be mindful of that before deciding to go. For sure, stopping at the Silver City Restaurant is a must! Once at the end of the road, the view is amazing, and there are many hiking trails to choose from. A few day hike options are: Cold Springs Nature Trail (2.3 mile out and back), White Chief Canyon Trail (7 mile out and back), or Eagle Lake Trail (6.5 mile loop).

This is another full day adventure option! Make sure to leave early for the almost 2 hour drive to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon. This is one of the most spectacular areas with a wild rushing river, steep canyon walls full of cedars and evergreens, and is much less populated than other areas of the parks. You can simply enjoy a dip in the Kings River at Roads End, hike along Zumwalt Meadow, hike to Mist Falls (about 8 miles out and back), or take any of the steeper hikes along the canyon walls for an excellent view.
