Great food

These are our tried and tested places. Not saying that others aren't good, we just haven't tried them yet....
The closest fish & chips to Bempton Lodge and voted best in the UK in previous years. Great value and one of our locals.

Where the locals go! Also have great fishcakes. You can order over the phone for a specific time and just turn up to pay and collect, so perfect when it's busy.

You might think it’s a little strange having a garden centre on the eating list, but the restaurant at Eastfields is excellent. Light lunches like quiche and salad, a great steak pie and roasts with all the trimmings. Lovely shop too. It’s our go-to for some comfort food on a rainy day.

The most amazing scenery and good food reasonably priced. It’s one of our favourites especially after a walk around the headland. Also lovely ice cream kiosk with local Mr Moo. Grab some fish and chips or an ice cream and sit on one of the benches and take in the beauty.

Might be a strange addition to the list but it’s where all the locals go. Booking is essential. It’s like stepping back 40 years but the food is amazing, service is good and a treat especially for the oldies (although Darren and I consider ourselves a very young middle aged!)

A must for a great meal or special occasion. Either sit outside in the sun and have freshly fried fish and chips, or book the upstairs restaurant for a more formal meal. Service always seems a bit slow...but maybe that's a reminder to slow down and enjoy!

Sightseeing & activities

Our favourite places and things to do
Tours available, great food and lovely walks down the cliffs (at low tide...please be careful). Great for bird watching and amazing sunsets. Close by is the chalkk tower, the oldest standing lighthouse in the UK.

The other side of Flamborough head. Beach with caves and accessible ramp to beach. Again, watch the tide - don't be caught out. Burger place and cafe.

Walk along the promenade from the north side, or along past Bridlington Spa on the south side and walk around the harbour. Grab an ice cream from the many food places, have a photo with Gansey Girl and sit and watch the boats coming in or out. Watch out for the greedy seagulls though! Boat trips available on Yorkshire Belle, the pirate ship and the speedboat.

A trip on the Yorkshire Belle is well worth it. There are 4 hour, 2 hour and 1 hour trips available going up the coast past Flamborough and Bempton Cliffs. The longer trip goes up to Filey and back. Great for appreciating the bird life, sea life (dolphins are often spotted) and the unique geological formations. Tickets available at the harbour or online. Dogs allowed.

Filey is famous for its lovely blue flag beach (but we still love Brid) but it’s also worth a wander around the town with its quaint shops, have tea or an ice cream in Glen Gardens, or a cocktail in the garden of White Lodge Hotel. For a great view of the bay drive up to Filey Brigg. There is also a great playground for kids up there.

If you love whisky a tour of Spirit of Yorkshire distillery is a must. Very interesting tour, lots of tasting and a great cafe. Designated drivers get little bottles to take away, however if you’d like us to take you up there and fetch you, you only have to ask! Booking is essential - the tours are small and very popular. https://www.spiritofyorkshire.com/

This is a hidden gem that even some locals don’t know about. If you like history and are interested in the history of Brid, this is an excellent FREE outing. Set in the historic Priory gate it’s a multi-room experience. Steep steps so not accessible for everyone. Across the road from Jackson’s fish shop.
