Restaurants in Hommersåk: In the center of Hommersåk they have an Asian restaurant called Hommersåk Wok & Sushi. I can strongly recommend this one. The food tastes excellent and the service is top notch. Hommersåk Wok & Sushi has outdoor seating and a pub licence At Hommersåk you can also find two pizza restaurants, Pizzabakeren and Dolly Dimple’s. Dolly Dimple’s has outdoor seating and a pub licence. In addition, Hommersåk can offer Hommersåk Kebab and Hommersåk Bistro. Both can be found a little further up the road (Kaiveien 13). Lebanese food is served, and at weekends football matches are shown on the big screen/TV.

City/town information

Stavanger can offer plenty of good food and drink, and a pleasant atmosphere in the summer. Here are my recommendations on restaurants: - Seafood – Fisketorget Stavanger - Italian food – Olivia Torget - African, Ethiopian – Gådjå - Hamburgers – Døgnvill Burger - Something for everyone – Egon - Gourmet and more expensive food – Tango Bar & Kjøkken There are of course many, many more to choose from. Take the trip and enjoy the small "big city". And, if you make the trip to Stavanger, you must take a walk through the old town or visit one of the many cozy little bars in Fargegata (“The color street”)

Hike recommodations

Månafossen waterfall is with its 90 metres in free fall the tallest waterfall in the county of Rogaland. The track is combined with stair climbing on the first part of the hike. You'll have some chains to hold on to on the steepest areas, however this is relatively easy. On the way, there are facilitated lookout points to see the falls. Your hike should not, however end here. You will most certainly be able to continue yet another small climb, for another half an hour. Suddenly, you find yourselves at the ancient, restored mountain farm of Mån. Månafossen hike: 1 hour return trip. Mån: 2 hours return trip.

Hommersåkfjell can be reached without having to drive a car. The hike is relatively short, but steep. The view from the top is impeccable. The tour starts through the cemetery of Rika church. You can either go up and down the same path (about 4.5 kilometers) or take the hike as a round trip (7 kilometers round trip to the cabin).

This is not a mountain hike, more like a walk through an enchanting island with exotic gardens and experience that will delight your senses. Enjoy the peaceful tranquility, colourful flowers, good food and sea views. The scenic boat trip through the local fjord from Skagenkaien in Stavanger to the garden at island of Sør-Hidle, takes 20 minutes. You will be welcomed with a guided tour through the garden, including some useful gardening advice and inspiration. The food tastes excellent and they specialize in the best of local seafood. This is a somewhat expensive trip, but a beautiful one with a fun guiding, good food and lovely spectacle.

Try this 5.3-km loop trail near Flørli. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 30 min to complete. Flørlitrappene is the longest wooden staircase in the world. 4444 steps lead you straight up the mountain and gives you a spectacular view of the Lysefjord. The disadvantage is that you cannot get there by car but are dependent on the ferry from Stavanger centre. The boat departs from Strandkaien in Stavanger. Tickets can be purchased here: https://rodne.no/fjordcruise/lysefjorden-passasjerbat/

If you have a few minutes to spare, a trip to Sverd in Fjell (Swords in rock) is recommended. Parking lot right by. Sverd i fjell is a monument to commemorate the battle in Hafrsfjord. This was where Harald Fairhair gathered Norway into one kingdom in 872 (the Viking age). The monument consists of three swords that are fixed into the grown. They symbolize peace, unity and freedom. The entire area around Hafrsfjord is rich in prehistoric artefacts. Hiking/recreational area/bathing Hafrsjord is a popular recreational area all year round. There is a lovely bike route and walking path along the fjord. During summer, Møllebukta in Hafrsfjord is a warm and cosy bathing area for the entire family. A large area of grass lawns, natural soil and beach. How to get her: Møllebukta, 4044 Hafrsfjord

Helleren creates a natural roof and shelter, which humans have taken advantage of for millennia. It is a massive rock formation, with water dripping from heights of up to 10 meters. The roofs of the two houses are unthatched, as they are protected by Helleren. This is one of the reasons why a visit to Helleren is such a unique experience. The two houses stem from the 19th century, but parts of the buildings are likely to be older. People have presumably lived in the area since the 16th century. Dalane Folkemuseum took over ownership and responsibility for the houses in 2002, when Titania AS handed them over to the museum. If you follow the North Sea Road, you will see them from fv. 44, somewhere between Egersund and Flekkefjord.

The Brufjell mountains are located at Åna-Sira, just outside Flekkefjord, southern of Stavanger. The potholes and caves at Brufjell are a popular hiking destination in Southern Norway. These potholes were created during the Ice Age over 20,000 years ago. The high and rough seas continually crashed against the rock cliffs creating the potholes in mountains which used to be higher than Mt. Everest. Stunning views Once at the top of the cliffs, you can experience panoramic views over the entire coastline all the way to the Lista lighthouse. This is a perfect opportunity for pictures, so make sure you have a good camera. At the top of Brufjell you will see a mail box. Feel free to write your name and nationality. There is a relatively steep ascend before arriving at Brufjell. Follow the sign to the potholes and walk down the mountain. It gets very steep and people who are afraid of hights might find it a bit scary. Some safe handles have been put up to facilitate the short climbing.

Vårlivarden is a 20-minute drive away from the cabin. The shortest way up to Vårlivarden goes from Myrland. At normal hiking pace, you'll be at the top within an hour if you choose to go up from the south side. Here it is quite steep, but nice to walk. Vårlivarden is a great lookout point. At the top you have views in all directions.
