By far the best fried chicken on the West Coast, and the only place serving Nashville Hot Chicken, topped with house made pickles!
Go for the secret menu item, Fries on the DL: "Made from Downlow’s signature crinkle fries (which are melt-in-your-mouth delicious on their own), this special dish layers that crispy hot chicken we know and love on top of a generous helping of pickled onions, sliced sweet pickles, coleslaw, cheese, and house sauces"
Order ahead an do a pickup order as there is always a lineup out the door!

You will likely need to go early to get a seat, as they don't take reservations, but its worth the effort. One to the top izakaya experiences in the city, it is akin to Japanese tapas. The fresh B.C. matsutake (pine mushroom) tempura, kobujime cured fish, fatty otoro, aburi seared sushi, and okonomiyaki are a must try!

Top it with basil or chili olive oil available at every table. Finish with Torta Caprese, a rich chocolate cake made with roasted almonds and walnuts and a hint of orange. It is just as good as when we first had it on our trip to the island of Capri.

A place local metal bands call home but a great community hangout for all. The cornmeal crusted halibut burger, smoked meat grilled cheese as well as the bourbon peach sweet tea are must haves!

The decor is brash, steeped in heavy metal decor, music and vibes. A place local metal bands call home but a great community hangout for all. The cornmeal crusted halibut burger, smoked meat grilled cheese as well as the bourbon peach sweet tea are must haves!
The space stays true to its 1964 roots with vintage booth seating (complete with lemon-yellow Formica tabletops) and a central bar surrounded by seven fixed stools.
The menu is more modern, grounded by mostly organic ingredients and simple dressings that let them shine. Brunch is the feature presentation: omelettes, Bennies, and huevos rancheros (our fave).
Dinner is served only Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights and pickings are slim, but there is this: a burger (beef or spicy tofu) and a pint for $11.
Can't beat the location either, only one block away from your suite!

Situated a quick 20-30 minute walk from our suite, it is a great way to spend an afternoon. Known as Kits Pool East, it is one of the two massive and social outdoor pools Vancouverites love to hang out at in the summer months (the other one being Kits Pool!).
Take a dip after sun tanning on the pool deck with an expansive water view and take in the backdrop of the North Shore Mountains. Great for families as they have a zero entry section to their pool. Very budget friendly.
Take stroll along the trails in the park and chill on the beach for a chill afternoon. Great spot to access the TCT (Trans Canada Trail) / The Great Trail, which can take you all the way to Lafarge lake.
