Menominee Park has nice walking trails. a small zoo, a kids train, paddle boats, a beach for swimming in lake winnebago, a big playground, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, baseball fields, docks for swimming, picnic pavilions, seasonal sailing lessons you can sign up for in advance, and in winter is a drive through Christmas lights destination. Its worth a quick visit and if you are feeling ambitious is just on the edge of walking distance from the house

Sturgeon spectacular
once a year, usually the third week in February, it is open season for Sturgeon spearing! walk out onto the ice covered lake to see the crazy locals driving out onto the ice with their trucks, shanties in tow, to try and spear themselves one of these hundred pound river monsters! pull up to Menominee Park at sunset and watch the cars pulling in off the lake and weighing in and tagging their catches!

Lake Winnebago/Fox River Watershed
Would be remiss if I did not leave a good natured caution about Winnebago in case you take to navigating its gorgeous waters by motorized vessel. It's a large shallow bottom lake (avg 15 ft, max 21ft depth). The West shore has lots of bays and reefs so watch your depth finder carefully or you'll be needing to whip out the floating prop wrench and praying you have a spare prop on board with you. Recommend staying 1000ft off shore when on plane and don't recommend trying to explore islands unless by kayak--its generally 1-2ft and rocky way out from shore aroun
