Cars are best for getting around the Adirondacks.
There are local trolleys and even some public transportation. The trolley and small bus schedules are available at the Visitor Center in downtown Olympic Center, Lake Placid

Road closures
There are several events that cause road closures or one way traffic in the area such as the Lake Placid Marathon in June, Ironman at the end of July and the Half Ironman in September.

Winter road conditions
Our road crews are amazing! Unless there is a blizzard happening at the time you are arriving, they will be out plowing and treating the roads to make them as good as possible for winter travel. Snow tires and all wheel drive are helpful.
