City/town information

San Francisc, aka "San Pancho", is a cute little beach town that is very artsy and family-friendly. There is a lovely community center and library with activities for kids, a circus school founded by cirque de soleil, 3 different play grounds, a theater, recycling center, art/building workshop, and many opportunities for classes, shows, traditional ceremonies, etc. There is one main road from the entrance of the town all the way to the beach, and along this road are many restaurants and small shops. At the local beach one can enjoy one of the beach restaurants, rent surfing gear/take a class, watch a fire/drum show, get a massage, or just relax under a palm tree. At the local Plaza del Sol there are yoga, Zumba, and African dance classes, as well as special events that the town celebrates. This Plaza, 2 minutes from your vacation home, also hosts the town's Farmers Market on Tuesdays 9-2pm. Let us know what experiences you are interested in, and we can help to arrange for you! There is local horseback riding in the jungle or beach, Indigenous Cacao Ceremonies, Temazcal Sweat Lodge experiences, or even powerful plant medicine journeys! We also can arrange an amazing pool-side massage right at your vacation home here :)

Lo De Marcos is a quieter town, but still nice to explore. It has an organic store selling local dairy and food items called "El Paraiso" on the main road. The beaches tend to also be calmer for swimming.

To visit a town that's bustling with more action, more parties, more markets, and more people, nearby Sayulita is wonderful. Great place to visit, though it always feels so good to return to San Pancho, which has a sweet balance of peacefulness and fun. Sayulita Farmers Markets are on Fridays 10am-2pm, November-April. For guests staying longer and wanting to buy hard to find organic groceries, I recommend going to Terrenal.

This is the main road of San Pancho, going from the entrance all the way to the beach. Avenida Tercer Mundo means avenue Third World, and you may notice the side streets have names like “Calle Pakistan, Asia, Mexico, Cuba”, etc. Shortly after passing the bridge when entering, on the left there will be some big buildings. These buildings have local classes, entertainment, workshops, a Circus school, gym, and the last one where the playground is the Entre Amigos community Center. Here there are activities for kids, a vegan restaurant/juice bar, 2nd hand/local crafts store, recycling center, and library. There are games, ping pong table, crafts, and toys that can be borrowed and played with. Great for families! It’s a good idea when eating out to bring a to-go container, as many restaurants (like at the community Center) don’t use disposable take out containers. San Pancho is home to many artists, healers, yogis, muralists, dancers, writers, teachers, musicians, painters, photographers, circus performers… You name it, we got it!

New experiences!

This is a great place to go to attend classes (dance, singing, pilates, etc) and learn something new. There is also a large art/carpentry workshop building that sometimes offers classes.

They have wonderful classes for both children and adults. Usually in March there is a large performance with beautiful uniforms sponsored by Cirque de Soleil.

Lovely community center that is the heart of San Pancho. It has a library, sports area, regular kids activities, playground, second hand store, recycling area in the back, a vegan cafe, a play space for little kids, and a beautiful little garden next door in the back. It is closed in August (though there is a kids summer camp there).

To experience the local traditional Mexican culture....

I recommend going to a Temazcal! It's like a sweat lodge, with singing & ceremony. About 15 minutes drive away is a school/land area called "Zubuya", that has Temazcal's on Saturdays. Feel free to ask us more about them.

Farmers Markets

Local San Pancho Farmer's Markets are on Tuesdays at the Plaza del Sol (2-3 minutes walk up the street from your vacation home!). There is a break during the summer months, although sometimes there are mini-markets around town. Feel free to inquire further.

Best swimming...

Sometimes there can be lots of waves on San Pancho beaches. Great for surfing, but more challenging for new or young swimmers. For calmer waters, I recommend going for a walk South to the end of the beach.
