After a year of patching and fixing, we decided to just tear it down and start all over. After three months of construction the new Captain Ron’s set sail.
During the summer of 2008, we went to work on the rest of the property. We added 300 feet of lakefront, making 700 feet in total. Three more rental homes were remodeled, making 7 all together. We completed Treasure Pass which makes for an easy stroll to all of the rentals. We added our second beach, Cannonball Beach, two new tiki bars, both of which came from Shooters, and a second beach volleyball court.
Captain Ron’s is home to the biggest event at the Lake of the Ozarks and largest boating event, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. It is also inarguably the largest charity event at the Lake of the Ozarks. This year’s Shootout saw record numbers in the number of runs, record speeds, and likely record crowds, amid major changes in 2017.
We are excited to be not only hosting the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout again in August, but also some other great events such as the Crappie Masters State Tournament in April, BroStock in June, Bikefest, the Marine Dealers Fall in the Water Boat Show, the World’s Largest Pontoon Party and the 2 Dam Days Paddle Race in September. The 100 days of summer will be in full force again this year with activities every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Our very own Pirates will entertain you for some fantastic treasure hunts on Cannonball Beach.
Make sure and visit our other location for Cannon Smoked Saloon in Sunrise Beach on Highway 5 and Lake Road 5-39 for some outstanding “Old West” Bar-B-Que. Open 7 days a week at 11, you’ll love the antiques and old west feel. If you have a large group or looking for some great Country Western Concerts, try “The Stables” at Cannon Smoked Saloon.
So lay out on the beach with the kids, hang out at one of the tiki bars, enjoy the wonderful food and entertainment, but most of all, relax, it’s what the Lake of the Ozarks is all about.

The Bagnell Dam actually got its name from a railroad man who formed his own town and then named it after himself. William Bagnell platted a town bearing his name on June 30, 1883.
Bagnell Dam is one-half mile long, rising 148 feet high from bedrock. That’s comparable to a building 12 stories high and seven blocks long. It holds back 600 billion gallons of water.
Ameren Missouri invested $53 million in upgrades at Bagnell Dam in 2017 and 2018, including 67 post-tensioned anchors and more than 66 million pounds of new concrete to weigh down the dam and secure it into the bedrock. The project created more than 200 construction jobs and an estimated $40 million in spending in the area.
In a typical year, the Osage Energy Center produces more than 500 million kilowatthours of electricity - enough to supply the needs of nearly 42,000 average households.
By using the natural energy of falling water, the Osage Energy Center saves our nation about one million barrels of oil or one million tons of coal each year.
Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world, covering 86 square miles in four counties.
Lake of the Ozarks is a little more than 100 feet deep at its deepest point. The lake level reading is the height of the surface of the lake above sea level. The full pool elevation of the lake is 660 feet above sea level.
