Marple's Roman Lakes have a rich heritage stretching back to the 18th century, when their water was used to power the mighty Mellor Mill.

The Middlewood Way is a 16km traffic-free greenway that follows the line of the former Macclesfield, Bollington, and Marple Railway through the picturesque Cheshire countryside and between historic mill towns from Marple to Macclesfield. Popular with walkers, dog walkers, cyclists, joggers, and horse riders and playing host to a wide range of flora and fauna.
The trail forms part of National Cycle Network Route 55 from Ironbridge to Preston.

It is a Local Nature Reserve and the starting point of the Goyt Way. It was one of England's first country parks. Originally it was an industrial area incorporating a mine, a mill and a mill pond. The River Etherow flows through the park and is the source for the mill pond.

Eccles Pike is an isolated hill three miles to the west of Chapel en le Frith in the Derbyshire Peak District. It consists of gritstone, pink in colour at the summit.

This is a swimming delight. Beautiful outdoor heated swimming pool with gorgeous views, a cafe, and a lovely play park for the children just behind the pool. A lovely little town to explore.

Marple is a walkers' delight, providing a mixture of superb scenery and fascinating historical features. With miles of canal tow paths, cycle tracks, heavily wooded valleys, rivers, lakes and hill top moorland the district offers a huge variety of interest.

The house is situated only a 15 minutes walk to either Rosehill or Marple Railway Stations - both provide an easy 25minute commute to central Manchester.

Rent a narrowboat
Wind your way along the Macclesfield Canal through old stone bridges and past green forested areas, open fields and immense mill buildings such as Goyt Mill at Marple and Clarence Mill at Bollington and the Hovis Mill at Macclesfield. The canal is well kept with plenty of character a real pleasure. There are even a few locks and a couple of aqueducts thrown in!
