Favorite food
This is our favorite Tex-Mex dive. Our go-to dishes are the Caldo de Pollo, chicken enchiladas, and a top-shelf margarita. The kids love their cheese quesadillas and playing the claw crane arcade game. It's a very laid-back convivial atmosphere, local family-owned. Delicious bottomless chips and salsa. We love it!

Best thing here is the baked goods! If you need a pastry fix or want to bring a sweet gift to wherever you're going, swing by Crema. Honestly, the service is not amazing, but look past that, into the refrigerated case of goodness that stands before you. My go-tos here are cupcakes and macarons.

A surprising gem! Located in the unglamorous parking lot of Westgate Lanes bowling alley, this pop-up trailer brews great coffee, the vibe is hyper-local, and there's a mission behind every cup, to support PTSD treatment and research in Texas.
Our go-to drinks are the Campfire (mocha latte w/cinnamon syrup) and the oatmilk latte with CBD tincture. If it's a pretty day, we like to walk there (takes about 20 minutes from Gettysburg - cut through the lawn just north of the house, out to West Gate), sit in the shade of the bistro table umbrellas and marvel at the incongruity of it all.

Lots of intertwining single track trails weave through several very different landscapes in this nature preserve next to Longview Park. It's part of an old ranch, with a dark witchy forest, bright clearings, overlooks, cactus meadows, and wire art installations to discover throughout.
I like to get lost taking random trails and then use the map on my phone to get back to the park and head home. It's about a 5 minute drive from the house.
