Open Weds-Sun, from 18.00.
Lovely garden with heated pods where you can take dogs. Don’t be put off by eating outside, the pods are super warm and cosy (take a mat for dogs to lie on as its pebbly underfoot!).
You can also eat inside (no dogs).
Pubs:
Golden Lion (next to LLys Meddyg) is dog friendly and has a pretty rear courtyard.
The Castle and Royal Oak are also on the main road, left off Market St.
Canteen on Market St for eat in or takeaway pizzas

Beach
Caffi Mawr on the beach for excellent coffee, cakes, hot drinks, and there is a large café at the golf course above the beach – Cat Rock Café (also does Sunday lunch)

Newport Beach
Easy walk from the house, down through the town, along the estuary, to the beach (see map).
Carningli
You can walk onto the moor and up Carningli from the house (see my morning walk map). Its about an hour up hill! You can also access the moor and the mountain via the Cilgwyn Road (right out of our development), and off Fford Bedd Morris (off main road, Fishguard side). Level walk across to Carningli.
Nevern
Small village with lovely church, castle and pub (Trewern Arms).
There is a new footpath to Nevern (on right after you have crossed the road bridge on beach walk). We haven’t done it yet, but think it will be lovely as it follows the estuary to Nevern).
Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber just outside Newport off the Cardigan road. There is also a mini stone site in the town, off the road to the beach.
Poppit Sands
Big sandy beach, large car park. Turn left from the lifeboat station for rock pools and walk to old lifeboat station. Up steps and left onto coast path for circular walk back to car park.
On the way to Poppit don’t miss Ceibwr Bay in Moylegrove.
Recommend the Teifi Waterside Hotel for lunch – along the estuary from Poppit on the St. Dogmaels road. Good food/service/dog friendly areas inside and out.

Gwaun Valley
There are lovely woodland walks leading up onto the Preseli Hills and at Sychpant Woods onto Carningli Mountain that will lead you through beautiful twisted oak and natural woods uphill onto some lovely moorland and hill tops with fantastic views over the Pembrokeshire tundra. After a good walk, there are two pubs - both well worth a visit. Bessie's (Dyffryn Arms) is situated at Pontfaen and is noted as being probably the best pub (among locals) in Wales. Here you will find beer served from the jug through a small hatch in the wall - just don't ask for anything too fancy as this is a proper old school pub. Further down the valley towards Fishguard at Llanychaer is the Bridgend Inn, which serves food as well as ales and beers.
There are also two breweries situated in the Gwaun Valley. At the northern most point of the Valley is the Bluestone Brewery (open to the public). Further west on the B4313 is the Gwaun Valley Brewery which is also open to the public.
Aberfforest, Cwm yr Eglwys, Pwllgaelodd & Pwllgwylog
Beautiful little bays, either side of Dinas Head, connected by the coast path, out of Newport on the Fishguard Road. Aberfforest and Pwllgwylog are accessible on foot only.
Aberfforest – park in layby on main road and walk down the drive through the farmyard to the beach. Don’t miss the waterfall, 5 mins up the valley at the back of the beach.
You can walk round Dinas Head which is spectacular and steep, or you can park in Cwm yr Eglwys and walk the level path over to Pwllgaelodd, where there is a pub, the Old Sailors (open 11.00-17.30 only).
Continue on the coast path to Pwllgwylog.
Porthgain
On the Fishguard-St Davids Road.
Pretty little sheltered harbour.
Interesting ruins of quarry works
Pub, art gallery and the best fish & chips at The Shed (a must do!)
