Even though Squires Estate is very centrally located in Governor's Harbour, and you can walk to the local grocery stores, bank, souvenir shops, a few restaurants etc... Eleuthera is 110 miles long, and most of our clients like to explore the island and all its natural beauty. For this reason we do recommend that you rent a vehicle during your stay with us, which it is preferable to arrange prior to your arrival.

So many guests arrive laden with luggage, only to comment that they needed very little. The island is casual and days on the beach need little more than a bathing suit, shorts, T-shirts and loose comfortable dresses for the ladies, so consider your needs as you may be able to save on a checked bag.

We have quite a few mosquitoes and no-seeums on the island. These are worst at dawn and dusk, particularly as the sun goes down on the beach, so be aware and take precautions. A great product which does not contain Deet and is very effective is called Picaridin. This is our choice as it is a gentle lotion which does the job.
