Food scene

Cafe Roka is our favorite upscale eating in Bisbee. Excellent food in a beautiful historic setting, plus craft cocktails and local wine. It is usually busy, so make sure to get a reservation in advance in order to eat here!

We love Chef Tony at Indochine in Sierra Vista. You wouldn't assume at first, but Sierra Vista's restaurants are very diverse! We have restaurants from all over the world due to our proximity to the military base. Indochine is great Vietnamese food, especially the pho!

Not far from our house is Jimmy's Hot Dogs. You can't miss the giant hot dog on Highway 92. It is a local favorite for good hotdogs and burgers for good reason! The food is delicious. You won't be disappointed, plus it's just 15 minutes from our house!

City/town information

We are just 20 minutes from the historic mining town of Bisbee. We love to explore Bisbee and look at the architecture, visit the small antique stores and art galleries, and enjoy the great food. They also have a fun nightlife scene with live music and local brews and wine. If you enjoy hiking, take an urban hike in Bisbee using the Bisbee1000 route. It will take you throughout the city past beautiful historic homes and up 1000 stairs!

We are just 20 minutes outside of Sierra Vista. This is where our guests should go for supplies and shopping. They have the amenities like Target, Walmart, a Mall, and local grocery stores, Frys and Safeway.

My favorite hikes

Just a few miles away is our kids' favorite hike in the Huachucas. The short, steep 1 mile trail brings you to a primitive cave that you can explore with flashlights. This cave is on National Forest land and is well maintained. Every individual should have a flashlight with them in the cave, but dogs are not allowed (so that there's no waste in the cave for unsuspecting spelunkers). This is a great hike with kids, and those in moderate physical shape. It is short, but steep and rocky and we are at a high elevation.

We are not far from Miller Canyon, a great hiking area. This is great year round, due to abundant shade on the trail. The lower canyon parking lot has the perimeter trailhead, this trail is mostly flat and offers great views along the way. It is full of wildflowers in the spring and great for sunset hiking. The trail from upper miller canyon leads up to Crest Trail, which is the trail connecting all trails in the Huachucas. This is a beautiful hiking trail with running water nearby and lots of shade. However, it is very steep. You don't have to go all 7 miles up to the peak! Miller Peak is our highest peak in the area at 9,465'. We prefer to get to the peak from Montezuma pass if you are aiming to summit.

The most beautiful area for hiking in the Huachucas is Ramsey Canyon. You can explore and enjoy the preserve, which is always packed with wildlife. Or take Hamburg trail up into the Huachucas from there. The parking lot at Ramsey Canyon closes, so make sure you are down from hiking before they shut the gate.

Sightseeing

Just over 1 mile's walk from our house is the Lady of the Sierras. You can see it our our windows. This is a beautiful celtic chapel and cross with a paved trail up the mountain that takes visitors through the stations of the cross. It is beautiful, but also a hike. The path between the stations of the cross are often stairs, and the road up to the cross is very steep. But is it a quiet, oft visited place for reflection.

交通アクセス

Make sure to bring identification.

We are close to the Mexican border. Our area is very quiet and serene, but we do have an increased law enforcement presence due to this proximity. It is important that guests ensure car registrations are up to date and they have identification on them.
