Food Scene

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Lisbon (just 5 minutes form the apartment), small and cozy and with a great atmosphere; food is great, home-made and fresh (don’t expect to find pizza though), and the staff working there is very friendly! Better to make a reservation because it gets full fast! (Price: 25€-35€ p.p.)

This restaurant is a bit more fancy than the others in the list; food is home-made and staff is very friendly. They also have a good Portuguese wine list. We recommend to try their desserts if you have the chance. (Price: 35€-45€ p.p,)

This informal location in the vibrant Mercado da Ribeira is a great place where to try fresh fish like Bacalao, clams, shrimps or tuna. The wine list is quite good and the service is excellent. (Price: 20€-30€ p.p.)

You will recognise this restaurant, which serves amazing fresh fish, from the giant octopus hanging from the ceiling; the space inside, bright and modern, is not very big and tends to be frequented by locals during lunch-break or after work, so try to avoid these times since reservations are not possible. (Price: 50-60€ p.p.)

The interior of the old Pálacio has been transformed in a restaurant which, despite being self-service, has an excellent food and service level: on the two floors of the restaurant there are different stations with chefs preparing your food, plus a sushi area which offers full service. This is a very traditional restaurant in Lisbon, away from the beaten track (you need to go though a parking lot to find it) which serves traditional Portuguese food. We recommend the meat and fish dishes, but they also have grilled vegetables. (Price: 20-25€ p.p.)

This is undoubtedly the most known, and most delicious, ice-cream of Lisbon (and probably of Portugal); Santini opened more than 60 years ago and still makes its ice-cream by hand, in line with Italian tradition, to secret recipes. They have two locations, one in Cascais (the original one) and one in Chiado; if you decide to go on a Sunday, be ready to queue up for some time. (Price: 5€ p.p.)
