Wilberforce boasts a number of activities to suit families and all age groups. The Australiana Pioneer Village, set on 27 acres nuzzled on the riverbank, is an historic collection of working buildings from our colonial past. See the blacksmith’s sparks fly at work in the forge, eat freshly produced damper, drink billy tea; experience life and hands-on history in the working village. Listen to the bush musicians, take a horse and carriage ride or peruse specialty shops at leisure. Bring your own picnic if you prefer. Feed the animals with supplied feed and watch your children's faces light up. Visit historic Rose Cottage, circa 1811 - Rose Cottage is the oldest slab timber dwelling on its original site in Australia. The village is open Sundays and further days during school holidays. Just up the road is The Butterfly Farm and Indy 800 Kart Track - hire and drive a cart - it is one the most exciting yet demanding tracks in Sydney. There is the opportunity to camp on the river, enjoy water skiing or try your hand on the track. There is a boat ramp for the river users. It is a great spot for large family reunions and end of season sporting gatherings. If entomology is your thing, there is an impressive static display of butterflies, moths, beetles, spiders. Of course a trip to the country isn’t complete without visiting a working farm to collect the freshest produce straight from the nearby fields. Notice the abundance of verdant turf farms in this area and the contented horses and sheep grazing within rustic post and rail enclosed paddocks. Wilberforce has a thriving pony club for the horse fanatics. The freshest meats are available from the local abattoir and butcheries situated in Wilberforce as are free range eggs. Recreational cycling is popular through the Wilberforce to Ebenezer areas utilising some of the quieter streets and hard shoulders of the roads. Best Cycle Rides Around the Hawkesbury can show you where to pick up the best rides in this area. Purchase a copy at the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre for $6. If you are looking for a cycling club Windsor Cyclists welcomes new members. Their regular rides are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays if you don't like to ride alone. One of their standard rides is through the Wilberforce and Ebenezer area. Wilberforce is very excited to announce the arrival of a new and thrilling attraction: Wild Cat Conservation Centre. Bookings may be made online. Walk with a Serval (African wild cat) and see other endangered species and breeding complexes. Wilberforce, along with Windsor, Richmond, Pitt Town and the nearby locality of Castlereagh, is a 'Macquarie Town", named by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in December 1810. Appreciate St John's Anglican Church (1859) and Macquarie Schoolhouse (1820) plus Wilberforce Park - NSW's last park that remains as originally set out by Governor Macquarie. Wilberforce Park is of State heritage significance as the best surviving example of the three surviving Great Squares created 200 years ago in the heart of the grid patterned towns of Wilberforce, Windsor and Richmond.

95 Coromandel Rd, Ebenezer NSW 2756 About 25 mins lovely drive to the picturesque Wilberforth area where you will find the Australia’s oldest church in Ebenezer. You will surely enjoy the short drive on the pretty country roads. Was a pioneer in education in the colony, beginning a school in 1810. The church is the oldest extant school building in Australia. The Coromandel covenantors arrived in Sydney in 1802 and began as pioneer farmers on the Hawkesbury at Portland Head in 1803. After five years of worship in the open air and in the homes of Dr Arndell and Owen Cavanough they, with seven other families, covenanted on the 22 nd September 1808. They formed the ‘Society for the Propagation of Christian Knowledge and the Instruction of Youth’ and agreed to build a church and school and to call a minister to facilitate their faith. Ebenezer means ‘The Lord has helped us all the way’ or ‘Stone of Help’. 1 Samuel: Chapter 7 Verse 12. In 1809 and 1817 they sent to the London Missionary Society for supply of a minister. The first communion service according to the Church of Scotland was conducted in 1824 by the Rev. Dr. John Dunmore Lang. Andrew Johnston was ordained as an elder. The schoolmaster’s residence appears to have been built in 1817 and is an excellent example along with the church of early colonial architecture designed by Andrew Johnston. David Dunstan and later Charles Smith, carpenter for Governor Macquarie and architect Greenway, did the carpentry at Ebenezer Church. The first ordained Minister to serve at Ebenezer was the Rev. Dr John McGarvie, taking over pastoral duties from layman Catechist ‘Pastor’ James Mein. The fifteen pioneer families made major contribution not only to church life but also to the whole development of the colony in its infancy
