Public sandy beach located minutes from the cottage. Throw the waterproof bag and sand toys in the kayak canoe or paddle board and head westbound on the lake aiming for the two rocks off to your right. Once you pass the bend the quaint little beach opens up on your right. Anyone can setup their telescope and enjoy the darkest skies in southern Ontario. At organized events, amateur astronomers are available to provide context.
The Crotch Lake Trail is a marked walking trail through the natural wetlands and forests between the southwest shore of Crotch Lake and Big Gull Lake. The trail heads west from the south access road to the lake, then swings north past the eastern tip of Big Gull Lake before it loops back west toward Crotch Lake and curves south parallel to the southern portion of the west shore of the lake. The entire loop is approximately 7 miles.

The Crotch Lake Trail is a marked walking trail through the natural wetlands and forests between the southwest shore of Crotch Lake and Big Gull Lake. With several lakes and an abundance of hiking trails this is a wonderful area to explore by foot or by watercraft. Remember to bring your swimsuit, there’s three natural sandy beaches where swimming is encouraged. One of the most noteworthy aspects of Bon Echo Provincial Park is Mazinaw Rock. Back Forty’s original raw ewe milk cheeses have grown into a local favorite and have become loved and trusted by many of the provinces top chefs and cheese lovers alike. The new outdoor kitchen and tasting bar serves a seasonal farm-to-table menu, including wood-oven pizzas, and the newly licensed riverside patio features Ontario craft beer, cider, and wine. The Cheese Shop and Tasting Bar is open for the summer season on Fridays from 3pm-7pm and Saturdays from 11am-6pm.
