Theatre and Culture

The architecture of Bradford reveals its links to the wealth of the 19th century textile industry. The Alhambra theatre and National Media Museum are well worth a visit. There's always something going on in Bradford - an annual literature festival, music and theatre events and so much cultural diversity. Fantastic restaurants and all accessible by train from Menston.

Neighbourhoods

Our lovely village is full of characterful stone cottages and green spaces. There are two pubs at the bottom of the street - The Menston Arms and The Malt Shovel. The Malt Shovel has recently been refurbished and has a popular pub quiz on Thursday evenings starting at 8pm - get there early to bag a seat! The Fox is around 15mins walking distance and offers a wide range of wines and full dining options. A little further afield, but worth the walk are The Chevin End and The Hermit. The latter has recently reopened as a community pub and has a rotation of street food providers - check out their website for who's serving up this week. Walkers will be spoilt for choice as the cabin is located on The Dales Way which takes you towards Ilkley over the moor or head towards Burley in Wharfedale, Otley Chevin or Highroyds. There are two sandwich shops. The Pantry is at the bottom of our road and Pickard's Deli is further along Main Street towards the park. Mark and Shelley, owners of Pickard's make their own pork pies and sell fabulous icecream and traditional sweets. There's also a community run cafe at the side of Menston Methodist Church on Main Street (check Cornerstones Cafe website for opening times). In the village hall you will find the library and G.P. surgery. A little further down the Main Street, towards the park, you'll find a newsagent and post office and pharmacy.
