Sightseeing
Located on the southernmost tip of Jamestown, the Beavertail Lighthouse and State Park offer spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay. Take a drive around the point or enjoy a picnic on the cliff tops as the waves crash below you. There is also an extensive trail system and hidden coves a short walk from the first parking lot as you enter.

3 Fort Wetherill RdKnown for its spectacular views of Newport Harbor and the East Passage of Narragansett Bay, Fort Wetherill is a former coastal defense battery and training camp. It's coves are a major attraction for scuba diving, and the grounds offer great spots for picnicking, fishing, hiking and exploring.
Built in 1787, the old Jamestown windmill stands high on Windmill Hill in the center of the island and was in operation until 1896.
The windmill is open from mid-June to mid-October on weekends from 1 pm to 4 pm and by appointment. The mill is still maintained in working condition and visitors can climb to the bonnet to see the gears that turn the mill stones.

Jamestown Newport Ferry

Wildflowers, birds, geology ... all add to this delightful walk. The walk runs 3.5 miles and about two-thirds of the walk is in easy walking condition.
