This family operated tavern is considered to be a hidden gem and people visit from all over Mani to eat here. You can expect traditional greek tavern food (meat only) and the most fresh ingredients. Oh and it is literally a 2 minute walk from the property! (operates from mid-June to mid-September)

A fresh new addition to Mani's food scene this wine bar-restaurant has opened only a couple of seasons ago and is already one of our favorites. Great environment and decoration. You can visit for tasty pizza and wine or just for drinks since it has a bar.

Well this is a huge underground network of caves full of strangely shaped rock formations. There are boat tours available all day and it's definitely worth a visit as it is quite impressive.

This is a great stop for an evening walk. (it gets quite hot during the summer for sightseeing). An abandoned medieval fortified settlement with great views. A true Mani landmark!

Great little beach on the way back for a cool-off swim!
This is Mani's unofficial capital. Famous for being the starting place of the greek fight for independence from the Ottoman empire. The liveliest of places in Mani with great night life. We usually visit late in the evening for drinks or early in the morning to get the best bread from the bakery at the end of the main street.

This place is a 25min drive from the property and it's a great destination to spend the day. It's the closest sandy beach from our property and it's fully organised with umbrellas and sun loungers (with a fee), a coffee and cocktails bar and a restaurant.

This is a very long sandy beach close to the town of Gythion and about a 45min drive from our property. You can find many shops here with different amenities (umbrellas, etc). If you happen to visit when the sea is calm, its's quite dreamy.

Bring some basic beach equipment
Most beaches around Mani are not organised, meaning you won't find umbrellas and chairs for hire. It would be wise to bring your own and since there are a lot of pebbles around consider some waterproof beach shoes as well!

Tap water in the area is generally not drinkable, so make sure you add enough bottled water in your shopping list, before and after your arrival!

The farmer's markets!
Be sure to pay them a visit for fresh local ingredients! Every Saturday in Areopoli (ask around you can't miss it) and every Wednesday in the village of Pirgos Dirou (it's right on the main road as you drive from our village towards Areopoli).
