The Meije is located right in the “green hart” of Holland, lots of nature between the large cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague. It is well known for its curly country road, its small river, its water tower: Pietje Potlood – Pencil Pete as it looks like a huge pencil.

Meije

The "Nieuwkoopse Plassen" is home of many birds and has protected areas to preserve nature. By foot or by bike you can go from the Meije to Nieuwkoop by using a small trail called Het Oortjespad. The small bridge in the middle is called Het Kwakelbruggetje. From the Meije you get onto this trail at the Pietje Potlood - our water tower.

City/town information

At the end of September there normally is a annual fair with a Cheese Queen, cheese market, fairground in the middle of the village and a carnaval. (not sure during Covid times though). Bodegraven also has a railway station from where you can easily travel to larger cities.

交通アクセス
Public transportation - Buurtbus De Meije and train
Check ns.nl or 9292.nl You can use public transportation although it’s a little limited. The “Buurtbus” stops right in front of the houseboat, the bus stop is called “De Hollandsche Boerderij” across the street at the bus stop. Please see the schedule. The bus goes to Bodegraven (final destination railway station) or to Woerden (final destination railway station). The nice thing about the buurtbus, is that it will stop and let you off, wherever you want to along the route. From these railway stations, you can take the train to wherever you want to go. (only limited days/times though).
