Temperature swings of 40 degrees at night are not uncommon for Napa - and are great relief from the sun. Be sure to bring a sweater or light jacket to take with you on nights out.

1. When talking about going North in the valley - say, to Calistoga - we locals say "up valley". This is a dead give away if you're from the area or not.
2. We call San Francisco "the city". Napa is a world renowned destination, but to us, it's still a small town. Say San Fran and we'll know you're just visiting.
