Local Hikes
Things to do outside of Yosemite :)
An easy to moderate hike about a 10 minute drive from the house, walk amongst the trees and a year around creek. You can feel the history here and maybe see old foundations, mining and logging equipment from a bygone era.

A moderate to difficult hike that climbs along the creek that feeds Bass Lake. I would not recommend this hike for small children as the swimming holes are not easy to navigate in all seasons.

One my favorite places to go in all seasons :) There is a flat trail that follows the Merced river that can be used for hiking, running, mountain biking. In the spring this is one of the best places to see wildflowers. In the summer there is an easy access parking lot and designated areas for swimming. There is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day. It is located on the way to the west entrance to Yosemite and is a great stop along the way or on the way out of the park.

My favorite waterfall in Yosemite. This is a very rigorous hike but only 1.6 miles round trip to the footbridge view and 2.4 miles round trip to the top of Vernal falls. If you are able to climb the mist trail to the top it is a memory for a lifetime.
