(20 minute drive) Beautiful and unique chalk gardens - a really lovely place to spend a few hours. Afterwards grab a cuppa at the Highdown Tea Rooms or something more substantial at The Highdown bar and restaurant.

Hire a bike from the prom and cycle on flat paths, mostly off road away from traffic. (https://www.donkey.bike/cities/bike-rental-worthing/)
It'll take you about half an hour to get to picturesque Shoreham By Sea where you'll have a choice of lovely cafes and bars to refresh you before the ride home!
If you're feeling very energetic, Brighton is about an hour away.

There's a real wow factor in this beautifully restored art deco pavilion at the end of the pier. Stunning views and great food at reasonable prices. Perch is my go to restaurant at the moment.
