Sightseeing
Wolfe’s Neck Farm. (Not to be confused with Wolfe’s Neck State Park) Turn right as you leave the driveway. At the stop sign, turn right. Continue down 4 or 5 minutes until you see Wolfe's Neck Road on the right. Turn onto Wolfe’s Neck Road, and you will see a sign for Wolfe’s Neck Farm and Agricultural Center on the left. It’s a dirt road… take it. (If you kept going straight, you would find Wolfe’s Neck State Park). We love to park down by the little bridge and walk the rest of the way, but you can drive over the bridge, and turn right at the next little dirt road. There is a grassy field there on the right (right away) where you’ll see some small signs that visitors can park there on the grass. Another option is to drive over the little bridge, and just stay straight up until you get to the farm. Wolfe’s Neck has a lot of great walking trails, and an area where you can rent canoes.

Cape Elizabeth, Portland Headlight & Fort William Park. You have come this far… and you just can’t leave without seeing Portland Headlight! Trust me. The lighthouse/Fort William is about 15 minutes outside of Portland, in Cape Elizabeth. When you go, walk all around the lighthouse, but then take the stone path off to the left of the light house. It’s a cliffwalk, and gives you the most incredible views of the lighthouse & the rocky coastline. Take it all the way to the end (it’s not too long) and you’ll see some pretty gardens, and a cool rocky beach. Go past the rocky beach, and you’ll find the remains of an old mansion, and an old fort. If you’re brave, head into one of the fort’s dark passage ways. Climb to the top for wonderful views of the waterfront & downtown Portland.
Sidenote: while you’re in Cape Elizabeth, Two Lights State Park is worth a stop. Amazing views, wonderful trails, tidepools, etc. It will take your breath away when you see it. Just be careful near the water’s edge… the waves can come out of nowhere. One more street down from Two Lights State Park is “Kettle Cove Road”. Take it, and drive to the end of the road. Free parking, and two really stunning beaches. Walk over to the bigger beach (Crescent Beach), and walk down to the end (it’s a mile long beach). At the end, there is a path that takes you through a small field, and to another little beach that the locals call red-sands.

I haven’t done all of the hiking trails out on Bailey Island, but I am told that they are all great.

Great Night Out!
Blue, Portland Maine. If you are in Portland on a Wednesday night, Irish music night at Blue is fantastic. Blue is a tiny little local music venue that we love. They serve food & alcohol. When the music starts, the talking stops… so be aware that the locals won’t be pleased if you chat through the music. Get there about 30 minutes before the music starts to get a table, order food, and chat. It’s a total mixed group of ages. Expect to see people from ages 15-90! They have other great music nights as well, but the Wednesday night Irish music should not be missed. - and it just happens to be a block away from the Green Elephant, which is our favorite Thai & Asian inspired vegan restaurant in Portland (LOTS of GF options here too).
